From Comur to the World

Eels in escabeche sauce continue to be one of Comur’s most special delicacies. But Comur has many more Portuguese flavours to reveal to the world which are worth getting to know.

the fantastic world of portuguese can

A store that promises a unique experience in the wonderful world of the Portuguese preserves! In the Gaia Pier, the store tells the History of Portugal in a magical and vibrant environment, full of color, music, light and movement, in two floors of pure emotion. This is the stamp on the Portuguese preserves passport, aiming to conquer the world and leaving behind the fear to aspire to the stage that is within its reach: to be the world reference of preserves, synonymous of prestige and distinction. Synonymous of Portugal.

From the sea to the tin – from the tin to the world

Comur operates 21 stores throughout the country, which include the stores of The Fantastic World of Portuguese Sardine and The Fantastic World of Portuguese Can. They represent the crowning point of a story, originally retold in every concept and every tin, giving us the privilege of telling our story to thousands of people, every day.

Whether on a journey around the world surrounded by a sea of colour, light, sound and fantasy or in an ode to the literature and knowledge of books, the spotlight is on the Portuguese Sea and on the History of Portugal that we tell in each preserve. All these stores, that bring tradition and modernity together in one place, share a common denominator: the sharing of knowledge and truly Portuguese flavours that travel in each and every can to the four corners of the world.

the prodigy of the atlantic

The queen of all fish – the Portuguese sardine – a fish both noble and popular, has ascended the throne during the summer months for many years, showing off its crown up and down the country. But at The Fantastic World of Portuguese Sardine, the sovereign rules all year round.

And what better tribute could be paid than through the fantasy of the wonderful world of the circus, also noble and popular, in parallel with the extraordinary popular nobility of sardines?

Once an industry that boasted very festive labelling and colourful, animated designs, since then lost along the way and giving way to boring labels, the cans at The Fantastic World of Portuguese Sardine revisit and dignify this colourful, happy past of the canning industry. Full of fanciful colour, the sardine tins feature the years from 1916 to the present day, marking an important event and the most noteworthy people born each year.

Portuguese Gold

At the six The Fantastic World of Portuguese Sardine stores, the crown jewel stands, exultant and proud of its status. In Lisbon, Porto, Braga, Cascais, and Sintra, at each of our stores, 140 grams of pure taste of Portugal are displayed in preserving cans, revisiting the last century of Portuguese and world history and paying tribute to the Portuguese canning industry.

cities collection

The twelve cities or regions where Comur has its stores have gained a new allure. The Azores, Algarve, Aveiro, Braga, Cascais, Coimbra, Évora, Lisbon, Madeira, Óbidos, Porto and Sintra are now featured in beautiful illustrations on tins that highlight the most emblematic elements of each city. The delicious flavour of Comur’s roasted codfish runs through the entire collection, not least as codfish is one of the major icons of Portuguese gastronomy.

A collection that takes us on a journey through Portuguese cities… and to savour!
