The cod is roasted over the coals and presented in generous slices of loin, to which garlic and onion are added, in the good traditional Portuguese way, generously drizzled with clear and shiny olive oil. Very tasty and typically Portuguese, cod is a nutrient-rich, low-fat fish that is a low-calorie source of protein.
With more than 1000 ways of cooking cod (from which roasted, boiled, à Braz style, Zé do Pipo style, with cream, Lagareiro style or Roupa Velha style are just a few examples), Portugal is the country that most consumes salted codfish in all the world, especially at Christmas. Excellent to enjoy with good bread and parsley, garlic or onion that enhance its flavour. Codfish pairs well with red or white wines.
